Why is sunscreen a necessity?
The sunlight emits two types of harmful rays.
The first type is called UVA ultraviolet long wave A and the second is called UVB ultraviolet short wave B.
The penetrative ability of UVA rays are so strong that it can penetrate through glass meaning that even when you’re seeking shelter indoors, your skin continues to be exposed to its harmful effects and as a result, one cannot leave the house without a sunscreen since exposing your skin may cause premature aging, wrinkles and UVB rays cause the most damage to the outer layer of skin such as reddening of skin and sunburns. This highlight the importance of applying sunscreen since it can provide a defending protective layer against those harmful rays.
Other than these effects, it also result in wrinkles & freckles, as well as various skin damages like discolouration, sallowness, dryness.
What does SPF and PA means?
The Skin Protection Factor (SPF) rating determines the duration of time your skin stays protected against UVB rays from the sun.
A sunscreen with the rating of SPF50 is of sufficient coverage, as it blocks up to 98 percent of UVB rays from penetrating into skin. Anything higher than a SPF50 rating compromises on the texture of the sunscreen, making it heavier and greasier when applied to skin.
PA rating is a Japanese rating system that shows how much protection you are receiving against UVA rays. The higher the number of pluses, the greater the protection against UVA rays. Currently, the highest standard of PA protection in the industry is PA++++.
What I look for in a sunscreen?
- Non-sticky after feel
- Light, does not clog pores
- Natural finish (not white cast please)
- Smooth and watery
- Silky texture
- Smells good in order for me to apply daily, else it smells like I am heading to the pool instead of school/work/events etc.

What I like about this product is that it is very light and watery which explains why the product spread and absorbed really well into skin. I really like the non- sticky after feel and at the same time leaving a velvety, silky soft texture which I really appreciate. In this product, hyaluronic acid and citrus extract are added to keep our skin hydrated and fresh. It is also cooling and refreshing on skin upon application since the product contains Aqua Micro Capsule - a water
capsule which breaks upon application on skin to release the UV protection agent
while giving skin a cool and refreshed feeling. This product also double up as a makeup base and can be used for on face and body. Honestly speaking, I am really a fan of watery texture sunscreen, it really works well for me and it does not clog my pores since it is lightweight. (FYI: I purchased and used the Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence and have used it before I discover this product)
